Sebastian is learning to sit. He still looks a bit like a clam and topples over easily. This is early to be sitting; Julien didn't sit until he was six months old! Sebastian has also started playing with his feet.
We are all very excited about the election results. Indiana is finally voting for democrats! Julien has been asking us why our team won.
Lately Julien has been saying, "Sebastian is the ruler and I am his assistant" or "Sebastian is the ruler of the world." Yesterday he said "Sebastian is the ruler of America. He's better than the president isn't he?" I would have to agree.
The other morning when I got out of the shower I heard Julien yell, "Mommy, come quick! Sebastian's standing!" "Uh Oh!" I thought, imagining Julien holding Sebastian by the throat. But when I came in the room, this is what I saw. Julien said "Sebastian was fussing because he wanted to stand!" At least he is holding him correctly!
Afterwards Julien wore his costume to Oliver Winery (a local winery). It was packed full of IU alumni that had been in town for the homecoming game (which IU miraculously won!). He was quite a hit. We bought some beautiful pumpkins to take home and carve.
This last Sunday we went trick-or-treating at Winslow Park. It was very fun. Julien looked glorious in his knight costume. Jessica knit him chain mail for his birthday (he was so excited about it he slept with it several nights in a row). Originally Julien was planning to be Saint George and the Dragon (thus the red cross, Julien is a stickler for details) but last minute he decided that was too scary. Julien then decided he would be an English knight and Sebastian would be a French knight (adversaries?). He also made crowns for me and Richard. He explained the symbolism of each jewel to Richard- very cool.
As well as story book characters at the park, they also had a few SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism) knights. A little scary for Julien, but he was fascinated; they have the same obsession for detail that Julien has.
