getting back in to the swing of soccer

This last weekend we had soccer again. Thankfully, the weather was beautiful. Julien is beginning to get the hang of it again. The coach has been pairing Julien up with his daughter (one of the best players) quite a bit. It seems to be working pretty well. He tends to behave better when paired up with a girl. Either the kids have all grown up a bit or their coach is really good-this time they have not been spending as much time trying to steal the ball from their teammates.

Sebastian is also easier to deal with when we are watching the game this year- at least so far. It always helps to have a few toys and some snacks.

Art opening

I took the boys to my friend Sarah's art opening. It was her final show for her MFA, and it looked great! I haven't been at an art opening in a while. It was fun, although very crowded. Julien was a bit overwhelmed, although he seemed to enjoy the art. Julien was feeling too shy to talk to the twins. They were pretty busy with grandparents and aunts and uncles.

Julien is pointing to squid that is heading towards the mouth of a baleen whale in one of Sarah's paintings. He was also fascinated by the ceramic figurines of a small boy playing pretend.

Julien's photos

I think Julien took these before we had Emmett.

Resting at the end of the hike

Everyone was satisfied.

Morel?

This is the season for morel hunting, which is always a big thing around Bloomington. I'm not sure, but I think this is a morel.

The brothers hike

Julien and Sebastian enjoyed talking through out most of the hike. Sebastian repeated phrases that he would over hear, and Julien would discuss imaginary Pokemon worlds and creatures.

Sebastian wants to hike

This last weekend we all went on a hike at Griffy lake. It was Emmett's first hike, which was very fun. One thing we discovered is that he is open and welcoming of everyone but fishermen, who he is terrified of. Sebastian was happy to ride on my back until about a third of the way in. At which part he started to protest, so I let him walk, thinking that he would tire out and I would need to carry him again. But, no. He walked the rest of the way and was enthusiastic the entire time.

Stuffed squirrel

Emmett loves his new stuffed squeaky squirrel. We hope it will help stop him from playing with Julien's stuffed animals. They are so hard to resist.

Through the screen

Sebastian is a true animal lover. This morning when I got out of the shower I heard Sebastian talking away in his bedroom. I assumed Julien was in his bed with him, but when I peaked in he was talking to Micha. He also keeps giving things to Emmett. Or he shows them to Emmett and Emmett takes them. This has lead to several pencils being chewed into bits, as well as a few other toys and sippy cups. Sebastian finds Emmett's name quite easy to say so he says "Emmett doggy." All the pets, and Sebastian, love the front couch by the window. It is a perfect perch for observing the street. Frequently Micha sits on one side of the window while Emmett sits on the other.

Eating popsicles and drinking milk

I love how Sebastian's crocs match his popsicle.

Bird dog

The vet thinks Emmett has a little bird dog in him. He does seem to "point" sometimes.

Maia

I am a bit behind on posts! These photos are from a couple weekends ago. We went over to Tara and Spencer and their daughter Maia's house for dinner. Julien adores Spencer. Spencer was very patient and learned a lot about Pokemon. Sebastian and Maia got along very well. Sebastian worked very hard at saying Maia, but it usually came out as Ah-my. He has the syllables reversed.
