Baseball

Before we left to drive back home we played a little baseball. Julien was the Cubs and the rest of us were the White Sox. And according to Julien he won the game. Of course he was the only one batting.

Millennium Park

On Sunday we went to Millennium Park. I can see why they call it part of the "greening of Chicago"; the gardens are beautiful! Julien was a bit nervous about the fountain. He took some convincing and then gleefully ran through the water, until another boy ran smack into him and knocked him down. That was the end of that.

We then went on the architecture boat tour. It was very cool. Julien loved it. He was very quiet and listened very carefully. The last couple nights he has asked me to tell him the story of the boat tour as his night time story.

Another thing Julien loved on this trip was when Grandpa Bill told him stories of the history of Chicago. Some details of the story (like the fire of Chicago) were confirmed on our tour. Julien said emphatically with the gesture of his fist "Grandpa Bill, he knows!"

Last Trip

We went to Chicago this weekend for our last trip before the baby comes. It was very hot, but we still had a wonderful time. On Saturday after hours of driving we went to Lincoln Park Zoo. It was free and had many more animals than in Indianapolis. They have a few updated exhibits, but some of the animals could use new living arrangements. Still, it was very fun. Julien particularly enjoyed the monkeys as he says "I laughed my head off!" He pretended he was a Marmoset for days after we saw them at the zoo.

Field Trip

A couple weeks ago Richard and I went on a field trip with Julien's class.

Midwife Appointment

We had a really great appointment with our midwife, Maryhelen this morning. Julien loves looking through her bag of tools. He also likes getting involved and helping her in whatever way he can.

At our last appointment Julien set out snacks for all of us. He spread out a cloth, put a flower in a vase in the center (he had picked the flower the day before) and set out dinosaur paper plates with dried strawberries and raisins and a few chocolates. He even set out party cups with juice! It was very cute.

Pink

Yesterday Julien decided to color himself and his stick pink with chalk. Lots of fun.

T-Ball

Julien just started t-ball and he is very enthusiastic. So far he shows good potential- he is fast, can hit the ball hard, etc. The main issue is reining him in and getting him to follow rules.

Henna Belly

I painted my belly with henna, with a little help from Julien. It didn't show up very well after I washed the paint off, but it still looks cool. It has almost faded away now.

After Graduation

After Shana's graduation we all came over our house for a bar-b-q. We gave Shana Indiana themed gifts: an Indiana t-shirt and sticker, Indiana fossil earings (cronoids) and a geode in limestone.
Julien had lots of fun playing with Ginger on her leash. It was the most fun Julien has had with Ginger so far; usually Julien is nervous about her.

Congratulations Shana!

Shana graduated this last weekend with a Masters in Library Science and a Masters in Carribean and Latin American Studies. She was also hired at The University of Redlands in California as an instructional librarian. She starts July 1st. We will miss her and Willem and even their little dog Ginger.
