First lost tooth!!!

This morning Julien said he thought he would lose his tooth today. He was right!

You may notice that his big teeth are coming in behind his little teeth. They call this "shark teeth." Supposedly the big teeth will move forward into their correct spot as soon as the little teeth come in. We shall see!

At the park

We have been going to our local park a lot this summer, much to the joy of the boys.

Finally better

Sebastian had a high fever for four days straight. It has been a hard week and we are very happy he is feeling better.

British soccer camp

Julien went to British soccer camp all last week. Sebastian was very jealous. Julien, on the other hand, didn't enjoy it as much as I expected. When I picked him up at noon he was so warn out he could hardly speak. On the last day every one was assigned a country for a pretend world cup and he was assigned USA. He was disappointed he didn't get Italy.
On his final evaluation he was given the highest marks for enthusiasm and tackling (getting the ball away from another player). THis week he is going to a science camp offered by Wonderlab. He seems to be enjoying it more.

More flooding

By now the flooding is over in Indiana, but mid-last week I encountered this on the way home.

teeny tiny frogs

There were little frogs all over the place. Something about all the rain and the heat must have been perfect for them. It was very cool.

Looking at nature

Perhaps the best part of the walk was discovering bits of nature at worked. We stopped to look at various mushrooms (some that were bright red), caterpillars, squirrels, and lots of tiny little frogs.

Muddy

Julien took every opportunity to get into the mud. Sebastian tried his best to avoid it. Julien would point out ways that we could step around the mud. He also had a special magic petal that could give extra powers. He kept putting his hand on Sebastian to give him more power. Sebastian loved it.

In the carrier

The first half of the hike Sebastian rode on my back. He was pretty happy about it, but he would ask about getting down every once and a while. We waited till the halfway point to let him walk.

As I left the office

As I left the office I saw this scene. The Jordan river had overflowed and had flooded a large campus parking lot right by sample gates as well as the surrounding streets. Luckily, I didn't park there. I do sometimes. But one woman from my office did, and after it had receded a bit she got into her car and found five inches of water. Even Kirkwood was flooded.

It was a scary drive home with lots of detours, but I made it!

This flood reminded me of a flood I experienced when I lived in Tucson. I remember that Speedway was flooded with about two feet of water. Tanya and I went on a visit to our friend Mona who lived on the other side of the street, and waded through the water. I remember that Mona, and her parents did NOT think it was a good idea that we had waded through the water, but we thought it was great fun. I also remember that when my mom drove home she had water get into the car when she drove through some of the flooded water.

Back at home- the flood

A few days after we got back in town we had crazy flooding. In these photos you can see flooding at a building right by my office building. Out my window I could see a campus road flooded at about a foot or higher and water cascading down steps like a water fall. Very similar to this scene. I did not take these photos.

Wild running

The last night ended with a good session of wild running.

Julien and Benjamin

Julien loved playing with Benjamin. The feeling was mutual.

FOr even more trip photos go to Jessica's blog.

Dinner with Bill and Jan

Bill and Jan came over for dinner. We had take out BBQ from Ribs-n-bibs. yummy. We were all very relaxed since the event was over.

Groggy

WHen they first wake up they are usually pretty sweet, and a bit groggy.

During nap

One of the nicest moments during our visit was when we quietly hung out while the little boys were napping. It was nice to be able to talk quietly.

Julien was excited about the space exhibit. All the adults enjoyed it too. Sebastian enjoyed looking up at the astronauts.
