Snow ball fight

It was glorious at the park today. Julien and I had a big snow ball fight. Julien giggled the whole time.

Emmett enjoys the snow

Emmett loves to bound through the snow. It makes us all giggle to watch him.

Sebastian is not enjoying the snow

It is pretty deep for him.

Another eight to ten inches

After a few hours of ice and sleet last night, we had a serious snow storm. Today, not only was public school closed, but Indiana University Bloomington was also shut down for the day. That's the first time that has happened since we lived here. Ironic that we had our heavyiest snow storm while Richard is in Syracuse.

Snow in your face

We allow snow ball fights as long as no snow balls are thrown at anyone's face or head. Julien figured it would be OK to throw a snow ball at his own face. He seemed to love it, so it was OK with me.

Snow!

We are having our second snow day in a row. These photos are from day one when we had approximately three inches. Julien and I played in the snow while Sebastian had a three hour nap.

100 days

Each year the school celebrates the one hundredth day of school. Each kid is asked to bring a collection of one hundred things. Julien brought one hundred legos. Julien, ever enthusiastic, loved it and wore his special headband straight through after school and up until bath. When I picked him up from after school he was the only one with it still on.

Kapla crazy!

Julien loves his new Kapla building toy. I'm not sure what is so satisfying about building with the small blocks, but it really is fun. I could spend hours playing with them even without a kid around. It can be frustrating at times for Julien because it is very tempting for a certain two year old to knock things down.

Hokey Pokey

We celebrated the new year at Max's Pizza. We enjoyed Kid Kazooey and the Ballroom Roust Abouts. They performed the best version of the Hokey Pokey I have ever heard, which included Malcolm be-bopping. Julien thought it was all a bit too loud and spent the evening on his dad's lap.

Sebastian jumps

Sebastian loved the time sculpture machine and learned to work it himself.

Time sculpture

There was a cool animation exhibit at the Children's museum that was Julien's favorite exhibit. While he was busily drawing, we created a time sculpture. Very cool.

Good Omen

This amazing sunset felt like a good omen.

Carrie and Pete

Carrie and Pete also posted some cool photos from our visit. And more.

Checkers

Carrie, Sebastian and I went on the carousel as Pete and Julien played other games together. Julien played his first game of checkers (we have since bought a checkers board). Pete was great entertaining the kids while Carrie and I spent most of the time catching up on each other's lives.

Icecream and jokes

We took a sizable break for lunch and ice cream. Julien discovered that the combination of Raspberry and chocolate ice cream is his favorite. He also learned lots of silly jokes from Pete and Carrie.

Dinosphere

We met up with Carrie at the Children's museum and spent a record five hours there. This time we made sure to go to the Dinosphere. Sebastian particularly enjoyed the dinosaur costume. Julien enjoyed the docent talking about fossils.

Visit with Carrie

Carrie Barnes came in to town over winter break. Her dad lives in Indianapolis now with her step mom. He has Alzheimer's and just moved into a nursing home.

I hadn't seen Carrie since our wedding and we had lost touch with each other so it was a real treat to see her, and meet her husband.
