Petting sharks

At the Indy zoo they have an open tank where you can touch dog sharks. Julien touched the sharks a couple times but we did not let Sebastian try. But he was very interested and said "shark!" "shark!" over and over.

Cold zoo

We went to the zoo this weekend. It was a little colder than expected, but still lots of fun. Sebastian was thrilled and learned many animal names, including penguin and pony.

Bubbles

The boys enjoyed making bubbles. We used up two full containers of bubble liquid.

Easter snow

It was snowing on Easter, but we still had an Easter egg hunt. I think Sebastian was more interested in the neighbor raking than in finding eggs, but Julien was very enthusiastic.

Brioche

Kathy and Julien made a beautiful brioche loaf. Julien was thrilled to knead bread dough. He has been wanting to for a long time. The brioche was incredibly fresh and tasty. yum. Apparently Kathy used to bake bread all the time when her kids were young.

Keeping busy

The boys amused themselves for quite a while with moon sand and magical growing pellets that turn into bug and airplane sponges.

Easter morning

The boys were very excited about their Easter baskets: lot of chocolates, jelly beans and wind up toys. Julien's favorite treat was "The Sneeches" by Doctor Seuss. Sebastian was fond of the wind up airplanes and animal nail brushes (in honor of Ellen).

Neighborhood egg hunt

Cedric's mom invited us to a neighborhood egg hunt. Unfortunately it was during Sebastian's nap time, but Julien had lots of fun. Cold fun, but fun none the less. Everyone wanted to know where Kathy got her Obama pin. Nice to know that there are other supporters in the neighborhood.

Egg dying

Richard's parents are in town during their spring break. It has been fun to be able to include them in our Easter festivities.

On Saturday we dyed Easter eggs. Sebastian enjoyed dunking his egg in the green dye over and over, but was concerned that his hands had turned green.

Blue baby

Julien and Sebastian recently discovered the blue baby lamp given to us by Susannah when Sebastian was born. Sebastian wanted to hug it and put it to bed and Julien wanted to pretend it was a robot. But they enjoyed playing with it together, even if it had different meanings for them.

Bedtime monkey

Sebastian has learned to sleep with stuffed animals from Julien. Last night he was making the monkey (formerly Julien's) jump up and down and giving it lots of kisses. I think that in this photo he is considering giving it another kiss.

Robot bed

Julien has set up a little bed for his robots right next to his bed. We tuck them in every night. Don't they look cozy?

In a box

The boys had fun playing in a box.

Spring break

We spent spring break in town this year. I found it very relaxing. It was a real treat. Richard spent the days writing, so I was in charge of the kids. I took Sebastian in to day care just before lunch and nap, and then I would take Julien out for adventures. One day we went to the circle center mall in Indy for a shopping trip and found this cool retro Star wars shirt. We also went to the Children's museum to look at the robots and dinosaurs. And, of course, we also spent time playing and reading. The last couple days of the break I spent at work moving into my new office after Richard and Julien helped move me in. Julien was excited to help out and see my new office.

On this particular trip to the dinosphere there was a woman leading an educational session. Afterwards she commented to Julien that he had very good manners. It is always nice to have a stranger comment that your kid is polite.

New office

My new office is in the central part of campus. Why a new office? I got a promotion! I am now the Assistant Director of Advising and Probation. If you get dismissed from the university you have to petition me for reinstatement.

The tapestry is left over from the last "probation queen." I am planning to replace it with something more colorful.

Old office

My old office was in a residence hall.

Science works

While Julien was rock climbing, Sebastian played in the contruction site.

Talking to robots

This last weekend we took the boys to the Chidren's Museum. As well as rock climbing (listed a few posts ago) we also spent some time at the robot exhibit. Now Julien's new obsession is robots!

Snow nest

We built a little snow man at the local park. Julien found an abandoned nest and used it as hat. Sebastian found it very interesting.

A big snow

We had a snow storm recently. I found it hard to have my usual enthusiasm for snow, since it was so close to spring, but the boys loved it.
Thankfully it has now warmed up.
